Still Colorpicker problem

Post by Jack » Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:28 am

Hi,

In august 2005 i reported a problem regarding the colorpicker, that it wasn't modal when it opened.
I was under the impression that this was (fully) fixed but recently we ran into this (simular) problem again.

1. Opening a fresh teechart object
2. Add a series
3. Add another series
4. Click the color property of series1; the colorpicker should open
5. Click outside the colorpicker and select series2

Now the colorpicker shifted out of focus and isn't selectable anymore. The only way to get out of Teechart is via the taskmanager.
The problem remains that the colorpicker isn't really modal.

Greetings,

Jack

Hi Jack,

We've couldn't reproduce it here neither with Win7 or Win2003. Could you please also tell us what IDE are you using (we've tested under VB6 in both systems)?

Here we noticed that when you have the colorpicker opened, you cannot close the editor until you'll close the colorpicker. The only thing we've seen is that when the colorpicker is opened, you are still able to navigate through the editor normally, and you are even able to open another colorpicker.

Hi Yeray,

As an IDE i'm using Visual Objects from GrafxSoft.

I am not using TC in the editor mode. The problem described is during runtime, but that doesn't really matter I suppose.

Now I tried the same thing at home (win7-64+TC8006) with the Teechart pro AX feature demo.

1. Start the demo
2. Goto the "new series" , "high-low line"
3. Click edit
4. Select "series" in the tree and click "Add' and add a line series ("series1" is added; doesn't really matter what kind of series, just need 2 series)
5. Double click series0 and click on the color button on the format tab; The colorpicker should open
6. While the colorpicker is open click on "series1" in the tree and try to select the colorpicker

At this point win7-64 generates an access violation....
I will try tomorrow how XP handles this.

Hope this helps to clarify and reproduce the problem.

Hi Jack,

Yes that's right. I've been able to reproduce it so I've added this to the wish list to be revised for next releases (TA05014441).

Hi Yeray,

Good luck with that.

Any idea when then next release will be out ?
Will it be an 8007 or a 9.0 ?

Hi Jack,

I can't tell you that the fix for this issue (TA05014441) will be implemented for the next release. I recommend you to be aware at this forum or subscribe to our RSS news feed for new release announcements and what's implemented on them.

Note that for v9, please notice that the ActiveX version is a COM wrapper of the VCL version so it will probably be released the VCL v9 before making an ActiveX v9. So probably we will have a 8.0.0.7 before the v9 ActiveX but I can't tell you a date for them to be released.
