wierd problem in teechart 6

Post by Zoe@Oblicore » Sun May 30, 2004 7:19 am

we create a teechart using MS CPP and display it in IE using ASP.
in some monitors whenever we load the teechart to the IE page, we get wierd boxes on the screen that do not disapear until we report the computer.

I can not seem to attach a file here to show te problem, but we had to use a digital camera since it can not be captured directly from the monitor.

we did not have this problem before we upgraded from teechart 5 to teechart 6.

any ideas?

Hi Zoe,

Are you using a IMarksTipTool?

To be able to help you, it would be really useful if you could post a simple IE/ASP page which we can run "as-is" to reproduce the problem here.

Please post to:

Thank you!

yes, we sometimes do use IMarksTipTool.
I do not know how sending a simple asp page will help since it doesn't always occurs. we think it has something to do with the actual screen we use when it happeneds (mainly laptops and TFT screens). so maybe there is something bad between the screen drivers and teechart 6?

Mmm, sounds as though it's going to be a tough one to fix if we can't reproduce it here!

Not that we are aware of, no. Try getting rid of all calls to the IMarksTipTool and seeing if you still get the problem.
Thank you!

Well,

I have managed to find out how it happends and it is related to the MarksTipTool. if it is in the chart, and i put my mouse mark over a bar, a tooltip apears, if i move my mouse out of the window where the chart is, the tooltip goes into hiding but it's shadow is left on the window. the shadow stays even if i minimise the IE window. it only goes away when i close the IE entirally.

since we do need the tooptips, is there a way to solve this?

(it happeneds mainly in new laptops TFT monitors).

thanks for all your help so far.
zoe.

I have this exact same problem on laptops mainly, (using Visual Foxpro though...)....

Has there been any reasearch or feedback on this as to what a possible solution / update may be.

is it a known bug of teechart?

is there a way to solve it and still use the markstooltip?

Hi --
is it a known bug of teechart?

We have recently become aware of this issue and will be looking into it as soon as we can.
is there a way to solve it and still use the markstooltip?
I suggest using the workaround I've posted on:
news://www.berneda.com/steema.public.attachments

with the subject "workaround for imarkstiptool in IE".
Thank you!

Has there been any movement on the reported problem at all.

Is it (when is it) due to be fixed?

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi Rob,

yes, this has been fixed in one of the latest maintenance releases of TeeChart Pro v7. You can download it from our web site and test it.
