TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
I've just downloaded TChart2012, imported it into my main application and am now getting debug assert failures (specifically, in "STDMETHODIMP COleControlSite::XEventSink::Invoke", occsite.cpp).
So I tried building the "Examples\Visual C++\Version 6\Add data arrays" example. This is using Visual Studio 2008. It builds fine, but on startup, the same debug assert message appears.
Any idea what is wrong? I've done nothing apart from import into VS2008 and build the example.
Tony.

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
If it helps, I'm running Win7 x64 (but the 32 bit OCX is registered, and I built the example in 32 bit).
Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
Hi Tony,
We've been able to reproduce it so we've added it to the defect list to be fixed in future releases (TA05016176).

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
Any idea on when it will be ready? The current release is unusable at the moment (every call into the ActiveX control gives the assert failure).
Also, any update on TV52015752? I've been waiting nearly two years for this.

Hi Tony,
It won't probably help you too much, but just in case, note the problem is only reproducible in Debug mode, not in Release mode.
I recommend you to be aware at this same forum, RSS news feed, Twitter or Facebook for new release announcements and the release notes to see what's implemented on them. Also note the AX version is a wrapper from the VCL version, so the VCL release notes would be also interesting for you, since the changes in the VCL version also apply to the AX version.
I've added it with high priority but I'm afraid I can't tell you when this will be fixed.TonyVSUK wrote:Any idea on when it will be ready? The current release is unusable at the moment (every call into the ActiveX control gives the assert failure).

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
I'm disappointed "again" by the TChart development team.
It seems that you never bother to fix anything! That is a shame, TChart "should" be an excellent component. But it will continue to be poor if you don't bother to fix bugs that stop your users from actually using the control. My code is full of workarounds because bugs haven't been fixed yet (and these bugs go back years). I don't know why you don't just say "it's a bug, we don't fix bugs".
Tony.

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
Hello Tony,
Sorry for the inconvenience this problem is causing, we perhaps didn't communicate it as well as we could have but we are working to find what has slipped in on the last build to cause it. We'll get a fix out as soon as possible.
Re.
I just took a look at the release notes for recent updates, I count 70+ bugfixes in TeeChart AX since the beginning of 2011. I understand your disappointment if we have not been able to get fixes to you for the issues that are most relevant to you. I see that we have worked with you on some issues over previous months and understand that some issues have been closed successfully but that we may not have met expectations on others. If you are able to post us a list of issue ids (or forum threads if that's not possible) for outstanding issues then we'll do a review on status.
Regards,
Marc Meumann

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
Hi Marc,
We are also started using v2012 and the same issue has blocked us. Would you please send the download link for the pre-release version (with the fix) to me.
One more thing I like to mention here. Currently we use v2011. It has been noticed that previous version (v2011) gets unregistered after v2012 install.
Situation is like that v2011 and v2012 can not coexist. If I register (by regsvr32) one version, the other version will be unregistered automatically. Is this expected?

Raj

Re: TChart2012 problems (debug assert failures).
Hello Raj,
We'll send a download link to the email we have logged for you.
With respect version control, v2012 is a direct replacement for v2011 and is non-breaking; it should support your existing applications directly. If at some stage in the future non-backwards compatible changes were to be introduced then we would change the underlying COM level GUIDs so that the different versions could coincide in the same machine. At the moment that is not necessary.

Marc

See above (http://www.teechart.net/support/viewtop ... 252#p57663)
I reported this issue back on the 1st May. I've been using TChart for years, releases are rare and usually don't contain many fixes (although I think this one might make it into the release).

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback! I assume the x64 version has worked ok for you too Tony, but let us know if there are any issues. We plan to make a full maintenance update available during early July but we will make the release version of the x64 ocx available as a separate download for the beginning of next week.

Marc
